Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Choi Ji-man (32) hit four consecutive games, but failed to prevent the team from losing.
Choi Ji-man started as the fourth 메이저토토 designated hitter against the San Francisco Giants in the 2023 Major League held at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on the 16th (Korea Standard Time). With one hit in four at-bats, the season’s batting average rose slightly from 0.170 to 0.176.
In his first at-bat, he struck out in the bottom of the first inning with two outs and a runner on first base, looking at opposing starter Alex Cobb’s sinker. In the bottom of the third inning, his second at-bat, he turned to a ground ball to second base with two outs and runners on first and third bases.
The first hit I was waiting for came in my third at-bat. After one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, he pushed Cobb’s splitter to make a left-handed hit.
His last at-bat was in the bottom of the eighth inning. After one out, he had a fun game with relief pitcher Scott Alexander, but the well-matched ball headed straight to the right fielder and turned to the dugout.
Pittsburgh gave up the first run in the top of the second inning. Starting pitcher Johan Oviedo was dragged 0-1 after a solo shot by Mike Yastremski after one out.
Pittsburgh, which lost its lead with a home run, immediately started chasing with a home run. In the bottom of the second inning, leadoff hitter Henry Davis hit a solo home run over the left-center fence to balance the 1-1 game.
The lull between the two teams continued, and the balance of the game was broken in the top of the eighth inning. At the top of the eighth inning, Pittsburgh gave up walks and hits, facing a crisis with one out and runners on first and second base. Pittsburgh manager Derek Shelton even put in closer David Bedner to prevent further runs, but Michael Conforto hit an RBI timely hit.
Since then, sloppy play has come out in the relay play. Catcher Jason Delay, who received a throw from right fielder Davis, threw it to catch a batter heading to second base, but the ball fell out, allowing another runner to score in the meantime, widening the gap to 1-3.
The team then faced two offensive opportunities, but failed to score and bowed its head.
Pittsburgh’s starting pitcher Oviedo pitched well with one hit (one home run), three walks, 10 strikeouts and one run in seven innings, but failed to prevent the team from losing.
Pittsburgh lost two games in a row due to the loss. The team finished fourth in the Central Division of the National League with a season record of 41 wins and 51 losses.
